Welcome to the Home Page of the British Schools Small-Bore Rifle Association.

The Association was set up in 1969 to cater for the sport of small-bore target rifle shooting in schools throughout the United Kingdom, regardless of whether the school has a Combined Cadet Force or not.

League Competitions

Each term there are inter-school Leagues, with four sections to cater for a range of challenges:

Section A - shot on NSRA 1989 10-bull targets with any small-bore target rifle (many teams use CCF rifles for this).
Section B - shot on Cadets and Schools 5-bull targets with MoD issue No 8 rifles and MoD issue ammunition only.
Section C - shot on Cadets and Schools 5-bull targets with any small-bore target rifle, limited to those Under 15 on the previous 1st September.
Section D - shot on NSRA 10-bull targets with any small-bore target rifle, limited to those Under 16 on the previous 1st September. Special overlays are used to score shots outside the scoring rings.

Teams are allocated to Divisions of 6 or 7 on the basis of declared averages, and targets are marked by an independent scorer. Each team receives points for for the number of teams beaten in each of five rounds.

No telescopic sights are permitted, but except for Section B any NSRA approved .22 rimfire target rifle and ammunition may be used.

Team Competitions

During the year there are additional competitions as follows:

Team of Eight Competition (Autumn Term) using Cadets & Schools targets, in Three Stages.
Home Countries International Postal Match
Veterans Postal Match open to teams of former pupils.
Winter Open Meeting, usually held at Wellington College or Lord Roberts House, Bisley.

Individual Championships

A Three Stage Open Individual Championship on 10-bull targets in the Spring Term
A Three Stage Junior Individual Championship on 5-bull targets in the Spring Term
A Staff Championship (using Handicap Charts) on 10-bull targets in the Autumn Term
