I regret that this page no longer works properly as EditGrid have withdrawn the ability to obtain live gold and silver prices, and the Exchange rates.
I am trying to make contact with them regarding alternative coding, but two days later (28th October) I have still not had any reply. Every effort is being made to try to get this page going again.

The silver threepence is half the weight of a sixpence, but bear in mind that the
percentage weight loss due to wear is higher (400 threepence are
generally less heavy than the same face value (40) of halfcrowns).
The crown and double florin are twice the weight of the halfcrown and
florin respectively. However, these pre-1946 silver coins almost always have a numismatic
value in excess of their bullion value.
The +5% represents what I have been told is a typical markup for items sold by a bullion dealer
